The Arc of Bismarck supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families. Our Thrift Store is the primary funding source behind that mission — and often the first place the public connects with who we are. We're looking for a manager who can run a tight, productive store and understands why the work matters.

 

The Opportunity: This is a great step-up role for someone with solid retail experience who's ready to move into management. You'll have real ownership of how the store runs, work directly with the Executive Director, and lead a team doing meaningful work.

 

Compensation & Benefits: $50,000- $60,000 per year, depending on experience. Health insurance, paid time off (PTO). Schedule: Daytime hours — evenings off; Sundays and Mondays off every week. Major holidays off. Flexible scheduling

 

Responsibilities:

 

Oversee daily store operations, including floor management, inventory, displays, and customer experience. Hire, train, and supervise paid staff and volunteers. Develop and implement promotions and sales strategies. Manage store budget and meet financial performance goals. Ensure a welcoming, mission-centered customer experience. Maintain store records, policies, and safety standards.

 

 

Qualifications

 

21+, with 2+ years of retail experience — pricing, promotions, merchandising, and sales. 2+ years supervising a team, including hiring. Bachelor's degree in business preferred but not required — equivalent hands-on experience works too. A background working with people with IDD is a plus. Strong communicator, great with customers, and able to juggle priorities without losing organization.

 

 

Physical Requirements: Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in a retail environment. Some evening or weekend hours may occasionally be required. Reasonable accommodations available.
